Dear Board members,

We had a board member meeting on 10/19/08. The meeting was organized by NAA-SFBA president Shengheng Lin, and twelve board members attended the meeting. Several main topics have been discussed and are summarized as follows:

• President Lin summarized his experience during his presence of Beijing Olympic opening ceremony as one of 120 special guests around the world invited by Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of State Council of P. R. China (one of 25 special guest from U.S.)
• Cancellation of mandatory approval procedure for message posting on NAA-SFBA message board

  • President Lin emphasized that this was his third time to submit this proposal for the board's approval.
  • All attendee agreed to cancel the mandatory approval for the permission to post a message on NAA-SFBA message board. This may be helpful to encourage the alumni member to actively use this message board for information exchange.
  • If a posted message is identified to be irrelevant to NAA-SFBA's interest or violate the NAA-SFBA by-law. A warning will be given to the poster. If the similar post happen again, his post privilege will be suspended.

• Update of NAA-SFBA Bylaw

  • All attendee agreed that there is no need to update the current Bylaw.

• Wendy Tian's sponsorship/ donation proposal

•  
  • Her sponsorship/ donation proposal by selling travel insurance needs further evaluation.
  • Since she is Nankai alumna, she will be welcome to give  NAA-SFBA a presentation during our annual meeting. The sponsorship or donation relies on her will.
